It all started with this casual conversation. No, really!
Jack Broomall and Don Verdiani are two experienced riders with the audacity to think that they can ride across the North American Continent on a pair of 1977 Hodaka motorcycles. Departing from the Philadelphia, PA area on June 12, 2011, they hope to arrive in tiny Athena, Oregon, in time to participate in the annual Hodaka Days reunion for the popular, but now defunct, motorcycle brand starting June 24th. Approximately 2800 miles in about two weeks aboard small displacement antique motorcycles!

Possibly the most optimistic motorcycle travel plan ever!
It takes a lot of faith to consider a trip such as this. We're going to attempt to ride two 1977 Hodaka motorcycles (a 250cc "Thunderdog" and a 125cc "Wombat") from our homes in Philadelphia, PA to the 2011 Hodaka Days gathering in Athena, Oregon - some 2500 miles away! A transcontinental trip on 34 year old two stroke bikes that can only go about 55 or 60 mph. And to think, it all started with a casual conversation. Departing early June, 2011. Lots more details and stories as the plan emerges and as time grows nearer. Thanks for reading. Check back often for updates!
